Don't All Religions Contain Truth?

Almost all religions contain a measure of truth.  For example, love is a truth that most religions share.  Personal sacrifice for the good of others is another.  Kindness and compassion are still others.  So to say that only one religion is all true and all others are completely untrue is, well, not true.

That being said, where religions teach conflicting "truths," those areas of conflict reveal points of belief that are either true or not true.  Take for example the belief about what happens to us when we die.  Now the atheists say there is no God while some religions teach that there is either one God or many.  So which is it, because God can’t exist and not exist at the same time?  If God doesn’t exist, then the atheists are right and all the religions of the world who believe in the existence of God are wrong.  But if the atheists are wrong, then there is either one God or many gods because you can’t have one God and many gods at the same time.  Now it is possible that there were many Gods at one point in time and there’s only one left now (or vise versa), but you can’t have one God and many Gods at the same time.

The point here is that while most religions have overlapping beliefs that are equally true, many of the conflicting beliefs cannot be true at the same time.

Most people connect love with telling the truth…even when it hurts.  Would you hurt or offend a friend with the truth if you knew their spouse was a liar and a cheat?  Would you risk wounding and offending them or would you say nothing?  It is understandable not wanting to hurt or offend someone who believes something that is untrue, but as uncomfortable as it may be, we withhold love when we withhold truth.  If we owe it to people to tell them the truth regarding things that pertain to this life, then we owe it to them to tell them truths that pertain to the life to come.
